On Sunday evening 14th of the month of Ramadan 1435 AH corresponding to the 13th of July 2014, in the middle courtyard of the shrine of Rad Ash'shams (sun's return) to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) in the city of Hilla, in the Babylon province, the seventh annual cultural festival of Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) was launched to commemorate the auspicious birth's anniversary of the grandson of the saint prophet (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy household) Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) under the slogan: "Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) the glory of the faithful and the reform of Muslims," and which will continue until the 16th of the holy month of Ramadan.
The festival's opening ceremony that was held by the people of the city of Hilla (the city of Imam Al-Hassan "peace be upon him") and sponsored by the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), witnessed the presence of religious and cultural figures, representatives from the local government in the province of Babylon, and a large crowd of people of the city, as well as the delegations of the holy shrines of Imam Ali, Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
The ceremony started with the recitation of verses from the holy Quran by the reader Ali Al-Hajjar, followed by reading Al-Fatiha for the martyrs of Iraq, and a ceremony to raise the banner of Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) to mark the beginning of the festival, followed by the word of the general secretariats of the two holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), presented by the accredited official of the Office of Sayed Ali Al-Husseini Al-Sistani, Sayed. Mohammed Hussein Al-Ameedi.
Then came the word of the host organization for the festival (the people of the city of Hilla) presented on their behalf by Mr. Ali Hadi Al-Mur'eb, to be followed by some poems from the representation of Hussayni processions in the city and from the chanting band of the Imam Al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine.
Followed by the announcement of the winning names of the second edition of the author contest writing about imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) held by the department of intellectual and cultural affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in order to fill the lack of the published writings about him (peace be upon him), especially what is about his sufferings, and to shed light on many aspects of his noble life to everyone. Preceded by the distribution of gifts and appreciation's certificates to the arbitration committee that was overseeing this contest.
At the end, the attendance visited the exhibition of the Arabic calligraphy and the artistic posters, which is one of the events of this festival.
