The Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine continues the rehabilitation and afforestation of the Green Belt project

The Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine continues the rehabilitation and afforestation works of the Southern Green Belt project in Karbala governorate, which is 27 km long and 100 meters wide.

The official of the belt, Mr. Nasser Hussein, said that "the maintenance work continues according to thoughtful and systematic plans, as the stage of delivering water and energy sources to each plant in the project has been started, in order to improve the area and increase the number of trees and their types".

"The existing trees are no longer limited to olives, eucalyptus and palms as before, about 24 thousand planted citrus, grapes, figs, berries and Sidr trees have been added, taking into account the favorable weather factors for planting these varieties,"he added.

He pointed out that"work is continuing to establish 6 Five-a-side football stadiums, with the aim of opening recreational places for young people, in addition to volleyball courts, horse riding arenas and a track with a length exceeding (2 km)".

According to Hussein, "the Green Belt project is the first of its kind in Karbala in terms of area and quality of internal facilities, and it is also an outlet for families and a productive project for many agricultural crops at the same time".
