The march was organized by the Department's African Studies Center.
The official of the Preachers Affairs Unit in the Department; Sheikh Muslim al-Jaberi, said that "the Center organized a march at the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) for the African communities located in the Holy provinces of Najaf and Karbala".
He added that"the march was called (the March of lovers) to extend the condolences to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) in commemoration of the martyrdom of his son Imam al-Hussayn and his family (peace be upon them) and in loyatly to the two weights; the Holy Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them)".
For their part, the participants in the march from the African Community stressed that "their march came in support of the Holy Quran and condemnation of the crimes of assaulting the Holy Quran, and a renewal of the Covenant and loyalty to the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and offering condolences to him on the commemoration of the tragedy at-Taf.
