The mourning processions of the people of Karbala commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) at the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
The mourning processions, in cooperation with the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them), began in the early hours of the morning of the seventh day of the month of Safar, with mourning processions that roamed the streets of the holy city to commemorate this sad occasion.
The believers extended condolences to Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon them), stressing the continuation of commemorating the sad occasions of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) every year and renewing the covenant to follow the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (may Allah's prayers be upon them).
Mr. Mohammad Kadhem, one of the Husseini processions Servants, said that the people of Karbala used to celebrate the occasions of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) every year and go out with condolence marches; in commemoration of the sad occasion.
He added that the mourning events included the symbolic coffin funeral of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him), starting from the Baghdad gate area towards the two holy shrines, the recitation of the Husseini elegies, and the establishment of a mourning Council in the courtyard of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).
For his part, Ali Saeed al-Mankoshi, one of the processions Servants, said that the people of Karbala, since the fall of the defunct regime in 2003, come out with marches and organize mourning events to commemorate the occasions of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), especially the commemoration of their martyrdom anniversaries.
He added that the day of the martyrdom of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) is a memory that saddened the hearts of the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), so commemorating this anniversary is an expression of loyalty to Imam al-Hassan and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
The Hussayni rituals and processions department is working on developing an integrated plan to commemorate religious events, receive mourners, facilitate their entry to the holy shrines.
