The staffs of the green belt department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continue their work by harvesting palm dates to supply local markets.
The head of the Department, Nasser Hussein Miteb, said that "the specialized staff of the department continues its work on a daily basis, in harvesting the fruits of palms planted within the southern green belt, in conjunction with the date picking season, in order to provide the host complex of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and local markets with these dates continuously, until the end of the picking season".
He added that"the harvesting work has reached advanced stages, and the reason for this is due to the fact that the land on which the orchards were planted inside the project is semi-desert, and this helped the growth to be faster than the rest of the areas that include other orchards due to the high temperatures in the region, and this contributes to the early growth".
For his part, Sayed. Aqeel Musa, one of the staffs of the Department, said that "the percentage of dates harvested so far has reached more than 80 tons of two types, and these dates are exported to local markets, some of them to enter the field of confectionery and others, in addition to using some as animal feed," pointing out that "the percentage of dates harvested this year will be higher than last season, the reason is due to the processing of Palms, fertilizing and follow-up the process of watering constantly."
