A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital performed an emergency operation on a young woman who was suffering from an explosion of a large water bag inside the lung, which caused her to suffocate.
The specialist of Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at the hospital, Dr. Ahmad Jawad al-Khafaji, " we performed an emergency operation for a patient in the second decade of life, suffering from an explosion of a large water sac, the size of which occupied about two-thirds of the lung, causing her severe pain with suffocation and pressure on the other parts," indicating that "the surgical intervention was difficult and required careful preparations before the operation."
He added, "We were able to perform the operation as soon as possible before any health complications occurred for the patient, as the lung was freed and the affected parts were removed with the stabilization of the patient's health status," stressing that "the experience of the Iraqi medical team and the capabilities available at the hospital, was enough to finish this operation successfully."
