The festival is organized by the division of Al-Kafeel women's religious schools at the holy shrine, under the slogan (Fatima az-Zahra; gathering the two lights, the prophecy and the imamate) on the occasion of the auspicious birth anniversary of the immaculate lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her), and highlighting her thought and virtues through a number of events.
The festival was attended by the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, the head of the Shiite Waqf court, Dr. Haydar al-Shammari, the secretary general of the holy shrine; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, a number of members of its board of directors and heads of departments, the governor of Karbala, Mr. Naseef Jassim al-Khattabi, and many official figures and women academics.
The festival opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader of the two holy shrines; Sayed Haydar Geloukhan, followed by the reading of the Surah Fatiha on the souls of the righteous martyrs of Iraq, and then the playing of the national anthem in addition to the chant of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine (the melody of pride).
The festival includes many and varied events, including honoring the families of the martyrs, reciting poems that sing the love of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), a theatrical performance, as well as the opening of an exhibition that includes a group of artworks for the competitions launched by the Al-Kafeel schools division earlier, including a photography and drawing competition, in addition to calligraphy and handicrafts competitions.
The six-day festival also includes a research conference, a Quranic and poetic session, and many religious and cultural events with the participation of (14) Arab and foreign countries, namely Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Iran, France, England, Italy, Spain and Belgium.
