Intellectual Affairs Department discusses with the Accountability and Justice Commission the files related to the crimes of the Baath regime

The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine discussed with the delegation of the National Commission for accountability and justice the files related to documenting the crimes of the Baath regime.

This came during the visit of the commission's delegation headed by the director general of the administrative and financial Department, Mr. Haydar al-Akili, to the Iraqi Center for documenting extremist crimes affiliated with the Department.

The director of the center, Sheikh Abbas Al-Quraishi, said that "the visit of the delegation of the National Commission for accountability and justice comes within the framework of an exchange of meetings with ministries and official institutions to discuss views on files related to documenting the crimes of the Baath regime and its victims".

He added that"the meeting with the institutions concerned with documenting the crimes of extremism to be a historical and humanitarian witness, as well as seeking to ensure the rights of the victims of citizens, and not to repeat these crimes in the future for the people in general, and for the Iraqi people in particular".

For his part, Mr. Haider al-Akili stressed that"this kind of meetings confirms the commitment of the National Authority for accountability and justice to its mission to uncover the facts of the crimes of the Baathists and their violations of the rights of the Iraqi citizen, praising the role of the Iraqi Center for documenting extremist crimes in this field".
