The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine held a condolence Council in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him) in the African state of Sierra Leone.

The council organized the African Studies Center of the department in Freetown, and was attended by a large gathering of followers and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt(peace be upon them).

The coordinator of the center, Sheikh Ibrahim Bah, said that "the center is keen to establish condolence councils on an ongoing basis, and always seeks to revive these great events that contribute to enhancing religious and social awareness among community members".

For his part, Mr. Muslim al-Jaberi, the official of the preaching unit at the Center, stressed "the importance of commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of the imams of Ahl al-Bayt(peace be upon them)," noting that "these occasions represent an opportunity to recall their blessed biography and learn from their heroic positions in the face of injustice and tyranny."

These activities come within the efforts of the Center for African studies to promote religious culture and spread the thought of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in various regions of the African continent.
