The Department of Intellectual Affairs revives Hussayni Rituals in a number of African countries

The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has begun organizing Husseini councils on the African continent with the advent of the holy month of Muharram.

The councils were supervised by the African Studies Center of the department, as part of its annual program to commemorate the events of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them).

Mr. Muslim al-Jabrei, head of the Preaching unit at the center, said: "every year with the advent of the holy month of Muharram, the center, under the auspices of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, begins organizing Husseini councils as part of the annual program for the month of sorrow."

He added that"Husseini councils have been established in a number of countries on the African continent and will continue throughout the days of Muharram and Safar months; to spread the Husseini cause in those countries and the statement of the oppression of Imam al-Hussayn and his family and companions (peace be upon them)".

He pointed out that"the program includes the establishment of condolence, preaching and guidance councils for the holy month of Muharram in several African countries: (Tanzania, Mauritania, Senegal, Ghana, Madagascar, Kenya, Rwanda, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, the Republic of Benin, Sierra Leone and others)".
