A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital succeeded in restoring hearing to a fifty-year-old patient who gradually lost his hearing, with a successful operation using advanced techniques.
The specialist of ear, nose and throat surgery at the hospital, the Lebanese doctor Dr. Hisham al-Moussawi, said that "a 50-year-old patient began to have hearing loss gradually, and reached a deep hearing loss, and he began to hear voices but does not understand them, and his condition does not work external hearing aids," indicating that "after conducting the required tests, we decided to perform a cochlear implant for him."
He added,"We have prepared the requirements for the operation and completed it as planned, and the initial cochlear test gave excellent results, and the patient will be able to hear well and gradually settle down to be normal after about months".
"The success rates of our operations are very high, as a result of the experience of the medical team, and the availability of advanced devices and technologies in the hospital, which usually enable us to complete operations, conduct tests and rehabilitation operations for patients, until they reach the required level of hearing," al-Mousawi stressed, pointing out, "the importance of operating theater techniques, especially the nerve monitoring device to protect the facial nerves when cochlear implants."
