The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has confirmed the adoption of clean energy technologies in the implementation of irrigation in the northern and Southern Green Belt project.
The head of the green belt department at the holy shrine, Mr. Nasser Hussein Miteb, said: "the Department's staff adopts solar energy systems in pumping irrigation water and operating water basins in the northern and Southern Green Belt project," pointing out that "these systems played an important role in meeting the needs of the project, especially in areas suffering from poor or non-availability of electricity."
"The department has established 14 solar energy systems, 12 of which are on the south side and 2 on the north side," he added, noting that they provide 10 kilowatts of electrical energy, which is enough to operate (plungers) used in tube wells for 10 hours per day."
"The benefit of installing clean energy systems lies in providing the possibility of controlling the delivery of irrigation water to the farthest point of the project,"he said.
