The Secretary General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine and the governor of Karbala inspect the stages of rehabilitation of the Allawi market

The secretary general of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, and the governor of Karbala; Sayed Nassif Jassim al-Khattabi, conducted a tour inside the Allawi market, one of the oldest markets in the city, to see the stages of its rehabilitation.

They were accompanied on the tour by the member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine, Mr. Jawad Al-Hasnawi, the head of the public relations department at the holy shrine, Mr. Mohammed Ali Azhar, and the directors of the departments in the province.

Sayed Aal Dia-Uddin said: "this tour comes to inspect the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Allawi market, to appear in a new suit and be a destination for visitors to the city of Karbala in a record time".

He added that"the start of rehabilitation works for what this ancient market represents from a historical dimension, as it is one of the oldest markets in the city".

For his part, the governor of Karbala said that"the market has not witnessed any renovation, rehabilitation or maintenance for decades, and today the engineering staff has begun to work in cooperation with the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine."

He added that "the rehabilitation works will include infrastructure and aesthetics, in addition to the application of maximum safety and civil defense measures, and the work will be at an accelerated pace by 24 hours," stressing that "the engineering designs of the market took into account the history of the city, and is a product of simulation between the history of the Allawi market and the new modernization."

The reconstruction of the market comes within a comprehensive plan to develop the center of Karbala governorate (the Old City), without affecting the progress of the expansion works currently underway, as it is part of this plan, and the development of the market is carried out in coordination and cooperation with the two holy shrines.
