The Supreme Religious Authority recalled that it is the first anniversary of the takeover of Mosul and its surrounding areas by the terrorist gangs of ISIS that are threatening other cities, and the serious repercussions as a result of this barbaric attack. These were the words of the Friday's sermon held at the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), led by Sheikh Abd Al-Mahdi Al-Karbalai, in which he stated:

"This is the first anniversary of the takeover of the city of Mosul and its surrounding areas by the terrorist gangs of ISIS that are threatening other cities, which prompted the Supreme religious authority to call Iraqis of all constituents and communities to volunteer and join the armed forces to protect the country and rid it of this great scourge. And thanks to the Almighty God, through the past months, many areas occupied by the ISIS gangs were liberated, as the heroes of the Iraqi armed forces and those who joined them from the volunteers have done their best in the defense of Iraq, its people and its sanctities, and have achieved important victories thanks to their steadfastness, patience, courage and sacrifices."

Adding: "It is certain that the stability and security we enjoy is many provinces is insured thanks to the sacrifices of these heroes and the support given to them and to their families by the general public, expecting our heroic forces to sustain their progress and victories by their appropriate preparedness for the liberation of other region as soon as possible, stressing again on the need to provide the opportunity for a larger participation of the people of these areas in the liberation of their areas. And it is required from the relevant authorities, whether in the government of in the House of Representatives to carefully examine the political, military, security, administrative, economic, social and judicial situation as long as the state performance in the period that preceded last year's setback, and take into consideration what the owners of opinion, experience and expertise explain about identifying the causes that led to this tragedy in order to not repeat the past mistakes and repair what can be repaired."
