The procession of the people of Karbala commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in Najaf

The procession of the people of the holy city of Karbala commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) at his holy shrine in Najaf province, in cooperation with the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.

The procession was attended by the secretary general of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, and a number of department heads and officials, where they were received by the secretary general of the Imam Ali's (p) holy shrine, Mr. Isa Al-Khorasan.

The assistant head of the Department of Hussayni Rituals, Processions and Bodies in Iraq and the Islamic world, Mr. Qasim Mohammed, said that "the people of the holy city of Karbala used to go down annually with a unified condolence procession to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful; Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), at his holy shrine in Najaf".

He added that"the procession included a condolence March that started from one of the roads leading to the Imam Ali's (p) holy shrine, with the participation of most of the parties to the city of Karbala and its varieties and Husseini bodies, in addition to the people, to conclude afterwards by holding a condolence Council in the Shrine of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him)".

He pointed out that"the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has worked to prepare some logistical and service matters, including the provision of buses for transporting visitors back and forth from Karbala to Najaf, as well as the process of coordinating the movement of the procession."
