A delegation from the Chaldean Antonian Hormizd Monastery in Erbil governorate, which specializes in manuscripts, reviewed the projects of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in the fields of preserving, cataloguing and restoring manuscripts.
This came during the delegation's visit to the Library and House of Manuscripts of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and centers (manuscripts photography and cataloging, cataloging and Information Systems Center, al-Fadl Center for the maintenance and preservation of manuscript heritage and documentary archive).
The delegation included the general head of the Monastery; Dr. Samer Surisho Yohanna, the director of the Syriac Manuscripts Library, Mr. Youssef younou Sam'an Ajam, the specialist in restoration and improvement of images; Mr. Matthew Hikmat Hosseini, and the specialist in photography and digitization; Mr. Fadi Sabah Dawduka.
The visit included organizing a tour of the centers to get acquainted with the mechanism of preserving, cataloging and photocopying manuscripts, as well as discussing ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in these areas.
For his part, the visiting delegation pointed out that the capabilities and equipment of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, its possession of manuscripts, as well as the specialized human capabilities in this field, is a matter of pride, as it meets the ambition of specialists in this field to preserve the human and Iraqi heritage to make it available to those interested.
The delegation expressed its gratitude for the warm reception and interest in the delegation, and briefed it on the details of the work of the Library and the House of Manuscripts, and expressed its keen desire to exchange visits between the two sides to benefit from their existing experiences.
