The festival was organized by the student association "University Students" under the auspices of the holy shrine, represented by the Departments of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs and Public Relations, in collaboration with the University of Technology on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa ar-Redha (peace be upon him).
The festival activities began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Ahmed al-Helou, followed by listening to the Iraqi national anthem and the anthem of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine (Melody of Pride), and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq's martyrs.
The festival included several speeches, including a speech by Sayed Adnan Gelokhan al-Moussawi for the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, a speech by Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, the administrative assistant to the university president, for the technological university, as well as religious chants by the Munshid Mohammed al-Tamimi, and honoring the female students who committed to wearing the abaya on campus.
The head of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department, Mr. Aqeel al-Yasiri, said: "The festival witnessed the honoring by the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine of the female students wearing the abaya within the university campus, in cooperation with the University of Technology, coinciding with the blessed birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa ar-Redha (peace be upon him)."
For his part, the administrative assistant to the university president, Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, said, "Under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, the University of Technology witnessed the annual festival (Dhamen al-Jannah "Guardian of Paradise")."
The administrative assistant to the university president expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the holy shrine for organizing various cultural events, which are likely to enhance moral values and preserve Islamic principles among students.
