The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine concluded the first day of the ninth edition of the Sacred Defense Fatwa Cultural Festival.
The festival is organized by the Intellectual Affairs Department and the Al-Wafi Documentation and Studies Foundation at the Holy Shrine, under the slogan: "The Religious Authority is the Fortress of the Islamic Nation," and it will last for two days.
The first day's events were attended by the Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine; Sayed Mustafa Murtada Aal Dia-Uddin, along with several of its officials and department heads, as well as official, religious, and academic figures, and a number of martyrs' families.
The festival included numerous activities, including a speech by a member of the Holy Shrine's Board of Directors, Dr. Abbas Al-Dadah Al-Moussawi, a research conference, an exhibition of historical photos and documents, as well as a documentary film about the Jihad Fatwa and liberation battles, in addition to honoring researchers, judging committees, and winners of the short story and classical poetry competitions.
The festival activities witnessed the unveiling of the project (Encyclopedia of Friday Sermons: Documentation and Verification), which consisted of 33 volumes and included Friday sermons (from 2003 to 2020). This project received the blessing of the Senior Officials of the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them), His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalaei and His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi.
The festival aims to commemorate the sacred fatwa of defense and document the heroics of the Iraqis and the significant events that the country has experienced, to serve as a witness that preserves the national memory from being forgotten.
