In pictures.. Ceremony of replacing the flag on the dome of the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to mark the arrival of the month of Muharram

Today, Thursday, the ceremony of replacing the red flag of the dome of Imam al-Hussayn's shrine (peace be upon him) with the black flag was held, signalling the arrival of the month of Muharram.

The ceremonies were held in the presence of a large number of visitors, who flocked to the holy city of Karbala from inside and outside Iraq to commemorate the eve of the first of the month of Muharram.

The ceremony was attended by the Senior Official of the Imam al-Hussayn's (p) Holy Shrine; His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, who delivered a speech on this occasion.

The holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them) have prepared a comprehensive plan to revive the ceremony of replacing the flags of the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) after the Maghrib and Isha prayers.
