The al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organises the ceremony of replacing the dome flag of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) from red to black

The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organised this Thursday evening the ceremony of replacing the flag of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) from red to black, signalling the arrival of the month of Muharram (1447 AH).

The ceremonies began at the holy shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), where the red flag was replaced with the black one on the dome of the Imam al-Hussayn shrine, amidst widespread participation from the mourning crowds.

To turn the eyes towards the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), to begin the ceremony of replacing the holy dome's flag of his holy shrine, by the Secretary-General of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed Mustafa Murtada Aal Dia-Uddin.

The ceremonies held in the courtyard of the Bab al-Qibla of the holy shrine were attended by the Senior Official of the holy shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, along with several of its officials, delegations, and religious, academic, and Hawza figures, amidst an atmosphere of sorrow and grief.

The symbolic black flag of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) was raised on the pole at the Bab al-Qibla of the holy courtyard, coinciding with its raising on the holy dome.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine delivered by its Senior Official.

These mourning ceremonies have been held since 2004, during which the announcement of the beginning of the month of sorrows is made, starting from the holy city of Karbala.
