The Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine launched its special preaching program to commemorate the month of Muharram for the year 1447 AH in more than 20 African countries.
The head of the Preaching Unit at the African Studies Centre of the department, Mr. Muslim Al-Jaberi, said: "The preaching program for the month of Muharram this year is part of the awareness project (Voice of the Free), and it includes holding Hussaini mourning councils and religious and cultural activities in several African countries, including Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Niger, and Liberia; with the aim of spreading the humanitarian principles and reformative values for which the uprising of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) was established."
He added that "the program is concerned with reviving the Hussaini rituals and enhancing awareness of the revolution of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) in African communities, using methods that suit the cultural and linguistic peculiarities of each country."
He added that "the centre works through the councils of the (Voice of the Free) project to convey the authentic Hussaini voice and to instill Hussaini values in the consciousness of African peoples, thereby enhancing awareness and connection to the Karbala cause as a source of liberation and human dignity."
The awareness project "Voice of the Free" is considered one of the most prominent field initiatives launched by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, as part of its strategic vision to expand the scope of religious outreach and revive major Islamic occasions around the world.
