The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine holds the fifth medical forum for the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage

The General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine held the fifth medical forum dedicated to the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The forum was attended by the Director of the Senior Official's Office of the Holy Shrine and the Supervisor of the Medical Affairs Department at the Holy Shrine, Mr. Jawad Al-Hasnawi, along with several of its officials and representatives from health departments in Iraq.

The forum began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter Ammar Al-Hilli, followed by a speech from the Director of Karbala Health, Dr. Sabah Al-Moussawi, and a speech from the Head of the Medical Affairs Department, Dr. Haifa Al-Tamimi.

The head of the Medical Affairs Department at the Holy Shrine, Dr. Haifa Al-Tamimi, said: "The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, under the guidance of its administration, has been keen on focusing on medical work and the Medical Affairs Department." She added, "The fifth medical forum was held for health directors to bring together the perspectives of health departments in Iraq and to cooperate and coordinate in bringing the medical and health staff working during the Arbaeen pilgrimage."

She added that the medical affairs department relies 60% on volunteers from health departments, represented by doctors, medical staff, and nursing personnel.

Al-Tamimi pointed out that "this year there are significant challenges represented by the rise in temperatures and the increase in the number of visitors," affirming that "the department is on high alert to receive those crowds and provide them with the best medical services."

For his part, Dr. Amir Sabah, the Director of the Operations Department at the Baghdad/Rusafa Health Directorate and the head of the Crowd Medicine Center in the directorate, mentioned that for the thirteenth consecutive year, the directorate, in cooperation with the holy shrines in Karbala, is providing various medical services to the visitors coming to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

He added that the crowd medicine team affiliated with the Baghdad/Rusafa Health Directorate includes more than 125 members, including specialists in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, as well as nursing staff, physical therapy, dental specialists, and laboratory personnel. He pointed out that the importance of the conference lies in coordinating with other health directorates in Iraq, as well as hospitals, transportation hubs, medical evacuation sites, and more.

The forum featured a documentary film about the department's services provided throughout the year, in addition to honoring the participants.

The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine seeks, through the establishment of this forum, to provide the best services to the visitors heading to the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them).
