The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine held a women's mourning procession to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Ruqayyah, daughter of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon them), with wide participation from the female staff.
The head of the Women's Husseini Public Speaking Division affiliated with the Senior Official's Office for Women's Affairs, Mrs. Taghreed Al-Tamimi, said, "Under the guidance of His Eminence the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; His Eminence Sayed Ahmad Al-Safi, the procession of the mourning of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) was established in 2010. It was launched was with the participation of the students of the Public Speaking Institute affiliated with the holy shrine at that time." She pointed out that "since its establishment, the procession has become an annual fixed station for commemorating and remembering the painful tragedy that befell Lady Ruqayyah, daughter of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon them)."
She added that "the procession is held annually on the fifth of the month of Safar, where a large march is organized that includes theatrical scenes depicting the oppression faced by Lady Ruqayyah, daughter of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon them). This is an attempt to convey the deep human and emotional impact of what happened in the Battle of Karbala and to shed light on the extent of the suffering that affected childhood in that tragic event."
Al-Tamimi pointed out that "this year's procession witnessed wide participation from various female staff at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, in addition to female students from external sites, with the number of participants exceeding 1,000. The procession created an impactful mourning tableau that embodied feelings of loyalty and emotional belonging to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), especially in commemorating the tragedy of childhood in Karbala."
