The ceremony, which was organised in the courtyard of the Bab al-Qibla of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), was attended by officials of the holy shrine, religious and academic figures, along with a large crowd of visitors who gathered to celebrate this blessed occasion.
The celebration began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Laith Al-Abbadi, followed by a speech from the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine delivered by Sheikh Ali Mohan from the Religious Affairs Department of the Holy Shrine. He started by congratulating the attendees and the Islamic Ummah on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the two Imams (peace be upon them), and he touched upon stages of their blessed lives, their status, as well as the hardships they faced.
A member of the Board of Directors of the Holy Shrine, Mr. Afdhal Al-Shami, said: "The activities of the first international 'Mercy to the Worlds' festival, which is held in celebration of the 1500th anniversary of the birth of the Noble Prophet (Allahs' prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), included a series of specialised cultural and intellectual activities, along with a book fair, including the central public celebration we are witnessing today for this blessed occasion."
He added that "the ceremony included many segments, such as reciting poetry and hymns, in addition to a speech by the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine, and the distribution of prizes to the winners of the electronic competition launched by the Holy Shrine earlier, on the occasion of the blessed anniversary, along with raising a special flag for the blessed birth."
The celebration included a series of segments, including the recitation of poetic verses and religious hymns specific to the blessed occasion, participated in by poet Karar Hussein Al-Karbalaei, poet Mohammad Al-Fatimi, and poet Ihab Al-Maliki.
