The mourning processions are converging on the holy city of Karbala in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), in coordination with the Department of Hussayni Rituals, Processions, and Bodies.
The mourning processions set off from various parts of the old city, traversing the alleys and streets that were draped in black, making the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) their stations to revive the mourning rituals, passing through the area between the two holy shrines.
The mourners raised banners inscribed with verses and poems that embodied the depth of the tragedy of the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), in a solemn mourning scene that reflected the magnitude of the sorrow that enveloped the crowds of mourners.
The organization of these processions came as part of a regulatory plan prepared by the Rituals Department, in coordination with the Hussaini processions; with the aim of organizing the movement of the mourning processions and avoiding their overlap with each other and with the movement of visitors, ensuring the smooth flow of mourning routes and the establishment of rituals according to a precise organization that considers the safety of the mourners and visitors.
