The Southern Green Belt Department of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has started harvesting more than three tons of barley.
The head of the department, Mr. Nasser Hussein Mitab, said: "The staff of the plantings and harvesting unit, affiliated with the agriculture division of the department, have started the barley harvest campaign within the agricultural areas of the first southern green belt." He added, "The quantity of the crop exceeded three tons of locally grown barley planted over an area of more than 5 dunams."
He explained that "the process of harvesting barley aims to achieve self-sufficiency and meet the needs of the region, as it is used as animal feed in the green belt."
He added that "the belt extends over 13 kilometers and includes various agricultural areas that are part of the integrated recreational and service sites for families."
