The believers commemorate the eve of the eleventh of Muharram at the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother al-Abbas (peace be upon them)

Large crowds of believers commemorated the eve of the eleventh of Muharram at the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them), in remembrance of what happened to the family of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) after the tragic Battle of Karbala.

The holy city of Karbala witnessed a large influx of mourners to commemorate this night known as "the Night of Loneliness." Devotees have been accustomed to observing it annually through mourning ceremonies that recall the suffering endured by the family of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) after the battle.

The mourners headed to the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to offer their condolences and sympathy, before continuing their journey in the area between the two holy shrines, reaching the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), amidst a devout and humble atmosphere.

The commemoration ceremonies included the recitation of elegies and lamentations, along with the lighting of candles in the area between the two holy shrines and near the sacred shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), as an expression of sorrow and condolences on this painful anniversary.

The Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine continues to implement its mourning and service plan through its various departments and formations, to provide the best services to the visitors and to revive the rituals of the holy month of Muharram.
