The Women's Hussaini Public Speaking Division organizes the annual mourning procession for Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her)

The Women's Hussaini Public Speaking Division, affiliated with the Office of the Senior Official for Women's Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, organized the annual mourning procession for Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her) in commemoration of her martyrdom.

The head of the department, Ms. Taghreed Al-Tamimi, said, "The department has been annually organizing a mourning assembly and a commemorative procession on the fifth of Safar each year, in remembrance of the martyrdom of Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her). The procession starts from the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine toward the Imam al-Hussayn's (p) Holy Shrine."

She added that "the procession has been organized for seventeen years, focusing on the participation of children, girls, and women, embodying the sympathy for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and recalling the injustice suffered by Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her)," explaining that "the number of participants in previous years ranged between 600 and 700 mourners, while this year the number reached about a thousand participants."

Al-Tamimi explained that "most of the participants are from the members of the Good Advice Project, the Fruits of Giving Program, the summer course students held during the month of Muharram, and the female staff of the holy shrine," indicating that "the procession is an extension of the educational and doctrinal programs we received, and a practical translation of what we learned about the events of Ashura and what followed."

Al-Tamimi confirmed that "the department is keen every year to add new scenes within the activities of the procession; with the aim of instilling the event of Ashura in the hearts of children and attendees, and deepening the educational and spiritual impact of this tragic occasion."
