The Southern Green Belt Department Two of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has begun harvesting dates from its orchards with various varieties.
The head of the agriculture division, Mr. Baha Ali, said: "The date harvesting operations have begun after the fruits reached the appropriate ripeness stages and include several varieties grown in the green belt orchards, with the adoption of suitable methods in harvesting, sorting, and storage to maintain the quality of the crop."
He added that date production is part of the department's plan to utilize agricultural land and invest in it effectively, in addition to supplying the local market with agricultural products and supporting palm cultivation and local production.
Ali pointed out that the diversity of produced date varieties contributes to meeting market needs and enhances the value of agricultural products, in addition to the continued care and development of palm orchards to achieve sustainable production.
The harvesting of dates is part of the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in developing its agricultural projects, utilizing green spaces, and enhancing the production of local crops, which supports the agricultural sector and contributes to achieving self-sufficiency.
