Expectations of the moon sighting of the holy month of Ramadhan according to the office of His Eminence, the supreme religious authority; Sayed al-Sistani.

The Supreme Religious Office of Sayed Ali al-Sistani predicted that the crescent of the holy month of Ramadhan will be seen on the evening of Wednesday 29th of Sha'ban 1439 AH corresponding to May 16, 2018 in the horizon of the holy city of Najaf at sunset at 6:53 pm at a height of 11 degrees and 41 minutes, and will stay after the sunset for one hour and one minute, and the percentage of the moon's lighting section compared to the largest diameter reached by the disc is 1.96%. In this case the crescent is expected to be clearly visible.
This was stated in the schedule of the moons' dates of the holy month of Ramadhan for the year 1439 AH corresponding to (2018), published on the site of the Office of the Supreme Religious Authority Sayed Ali al-Sistani in Najaf.
Based on these expectations, the first day of the holy month of Ramadhan 1439 AH will be on Thursday May 17, 2018 in Iraq and the Middle East, God willing.
