A delegation of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine attends the opening ceremony of the Eighth Cultural Festival of the Ambassador [Muslim Ibn 'Aqeel].

As part of its communication approach with the holy shrines and sanctuaries within its cultural and intellectual activities, a delegation of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine attended the opening ceremony of the Eighth Cultural Festival of the Ambassador, launched by the Secretariat of the great Masjid of al-Kufa on Wednesday 5th of Shawwal 1439 AH corresponding to June 20, 2018, under the slogan "Muslim Ibn 'Aqeel (peace be upon him) a source of inspiration for generations in the realizations of hopes" in commemoration of the anniversary of the entry of Muslim Ibn 'Aqeel (peace be upon him) to the city of al-Kufa as an ambassador of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on the fifth of Shawwal.

The opening ceremony was held in the shrine of Muslim Ibn 'Aqeel (peace be upon him) in the great Masjid of al-Kufa by the presence of religious, cultural and academic figures from inside and outside Iraq, as well as representatives of the holy shrines and sanctuaries in Iraq and the Islamic world in addition to representatives of the local government of Najaf province and a group of guests and visitors.

The secretary of the great Masjid of al-Kufa; Sayed Mohamad Majeed al-Musawi has delivered his welcoming speech, stressing that the fifth of Shawwal became a bright spot in the history record of the al-Kufa city, and therefore the city council of Najaf decided to call it officially the day of Kufa.

The head of the Shiite Waqf bureau; Sayed 'Alaa al-Mousawi called in his word the researchers and historians to address the writings that describe the city of al-Kufa by treachery, forgetting its resistance face of the tyrants and the enemies of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), describing the city of al-Kufa by the civilizational phenomenon in the history of Islamic culture in general and Iraq in particular, as it reflected a new transformation, as Iraq became the house of migration of Arabs and a new Islamic civilization.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the festival included honoring figures of the city of al-Kufa and the opening of exhibitions of Arab calligraphy, photographs and history books of the ancient city of al-Kufa.
