Since the early hours of the morning and as usual in such sad days of the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of the Messenger of Allah and an important member of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them all), the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him), The Karbala condolences' procession started flocking the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) to extend their condolences and to participate in the commemoration of this sad occasion, inspired by the words of Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him): "Revive our matter, may Allah has mercy on he who revives our matter".
The head of the Hussayni rites and processions of the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), Haj Riyadh Ni'mah al-Salman spoke to Al-Kafeel Network about these rituals stating: "The movement of the condolences' processions on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversaries of the Imams (peace be upon them) begins early on every occasion, including the commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Baqer (peace be upon him), which is a known custom since ancient times, and the employees of our department organize the movement of their march, as they enter from the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and after extending the condolences, they walk to the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) passing by the square between the two holy shrines. The masses of visitors participate also in these processions of condolence."
It is to note that when Hisham ibnu Abd Al-Malik came to power his main concern was to end Imam al-Baqer's life, He then planned to kill the Imam (peace be upon him) by poisoning him. Hisham prepared a special saddle and skillfully filled it with poison. The saddle was sent to the governor of Medina with instructions that the Imam (peace be upon him) should be made to sit on this saddle fixed on a horse. The effect of the poison was immediate. The Imam (peace be upon him) became very sick and left this world three days after that he was poisoned. He became martyr on 7th Dhu Al-Hijjah 114 AH. At that time he was 57 years. He was buried in the grave-yard of Baqi' in Medina, where were buried Al-Abbas Ibnu Abd al-Muttalib, his father Imam as-Sajjad and Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon them), nearby the tomb of his grandmother Fatima Bint Asad, mother of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon both of them).
