The Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine attends the largest conference of libraries and information with the participation of 110 countries.

The Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine participated in the activities of the 84th World Congress of Libraries and Information, organized by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in the Malaysian capital, under the theme: (Transfer of libraries' work; the way to transform communities) held to shed the light on the influential role played by libraries in changing and developing societies and nations, with the participation of more than 110 countries from around the world represented by more than 3500 people.

The participation of the Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is considered the first and unique participation of Iraqi in such international scientific congress. This participation is an indication of the progress achieved by the Library in this field and its adaptation to the scientific development and application to the scientific conditions of the international libraries. And its participation and presence will be an opportunity to show its progress and share it with its peers in the world, and give a picture that Iraq is a country of knowledge and science despite all the circumstances.

In addition to attending the conference and learning about others' experiences in this field, the library and house of manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine was selected from 64 countries to present its word entitled: "The role of Iraqi libraries after ISIS", and this is a very valuable opportunity and great achievement for the Library and Iraq.

It is to note that the IFLA conference, which covers a wide range of topics, is witnessing a distinguished presence of library and information specialists from around the world each year. The conference is organized this year by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), the Malaysian Library Association and the National Library of Malaysia, with the support of the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Malaysia Office of Exhibitions and Conferences. The participation of the Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is the first Iraqi participation in this conference.
