The Service Affairs Department at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine launches its annual cleaning campaign for the holy city of Karbala after the Arba’een.

The staff of the Service Affairs Department at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine started on Wednesday morning 21st of Safar 1440 AH corresponding to the October 31, 2018 a wide cleaning campaign for the holy city of Karbala after the end of the Ziyarat Arba'een of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

The assistant of the official of the Service Affairs Department at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Mr. Ala' Abd al-Hussayn explained to al-Kafeel Network the following: " A wide cleaning campaign of the holy city of Karbala started on Wednesday morning after the end of the Ziyarat Arba'een rituals. The starting point was from the intersection of the Directorate of Education towards the entrance of the old city and the areas adjacent to the holy shrines, then the three main roads taken by the visitors during their march towards Karbala; namely, Baghdad road, Twayreej road and Najaf road. And we have equipped these roads with garbage containers. Noting that the waste volume during this Ziyarat reached 10 tons."

And he added: "This year, in accordance with the directives of His eminence, the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, we have expanded our cleaning campaign to include the areas of Hnidiya river and Bweybat river. And we agreed with the Directorate of Environmental Resources to create a method to extract waste from the rivers."

Indicating: "We are continuing our clean-up campaign up to the Haydariyah area (Khan Nesf). The work continues for 24 hours a day in two shifts of 12 hours each."
