On the tenth of Rabi' At-Thani, we celebrate the birthday of one of the Throne's lights, Imam Al-Hassan Al-'Askari (peace be upon him).

On the tenth of the Islamic month Rabi' At-Thani in the year 232 of the blessed prophetic migration (Hijra), was born in Medina a bud of the pure and blessed Hashemite tree; Imam Abu Muhammad Al-Hassan Al-'Askari (peace be upon him). The house of prophecy, revelation and angels' landing rejoiced his birth, and along with the hearts of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) that were filled with happiness, their lovers and followers also were delighted to see his face radiating the lights of guidance, honour and dignity.

Our Imam Al-Hassan Al-'Askari (peace be upon him) was born in the year 232 AH, and his father Imam Ali Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) was then full of joy and gladness, as he was the natural extension of the prophecy and the heir of the prophets and guardians' science. So, Imam Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) rushed to perform the birth rituals as conducted by the Messenger of Allah (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household) to Al-Hassan and Al-Hussayn (peace be upon both of them), so he has read the Adhan on his right ear and the Iqamah on his left ear, shaved his hair on the seventh day and gave its weight of silver for charity, then he made his 'Aqiqah pursuing the holy Sunnah, then he named him "Al-Hassan" and gave him the title of "Abu Muhammad". He then took care of him, gave him the prophetic education and taught him the majestic morals and values of the divine emanation, like the Messenger of Allah (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household) has done to Ali (peace be upon him), so at a young age, the science, virtue, wisdom signs have emerged from our Imam Al-'Askari (peace be upon him).



He has many titles such as "Al-'Askari" [related to the city in which he is buried that was filled then with the military forces], "Al-Khales" [The pure], "Al-Seraj" [The light], "Al-Naqi" [The chaste], "Al-Zaki [The pious] and "Ibnu Ar-Reda" [son of Ar-Reda]. His mother was the Lady Saleel, who was one of the venerable and chaste ladies of knowledge, and enough virtue for her what Imam Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) has said about her: " Saleel is cleared from diseases, uncleanliness and impurities." Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) got married to a servant called "Narjis" or Malika daughter of Joshua son of the Caesar, king of the Romans, her mother is a granddaughter of Shimon the guardian of Jesus (peace be upon him), and Imam Al-Hassan Al-'Askari (peace be upon him) only had a son from her, who is our twelfth Imam, the awaited Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), Imam Al-'Askari (peace be upon him) was brown tall, has a beautiful face, with good body and has a certain prestige and majesty, none can surpass him in dignity, knowledge, piety and abstinence, nor can anybody match him in the point of nobleness majestic grandeur, modesty and honesty. His Imamate started after the martyrdom of his father Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) in the year 254 AH, for six years and few months, and he was killed by poison in Samarra (Iraq) on the eighth day of Rabi' Al-Awwal in the year 260 AH, when he was only 28 years old.



Peace be upon our master Al-Hassan Al-Zaki Al-'Askari the day he was born, the day is was poisoned and left as oppressed martyr, and the day he will arise alive with the holy family of Mohammed (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household).
