The start of the annual martyrdom festival in Wasit.

In its ninth edition under the slogan: (The peacefulness of Lady. az-Zahra is the approach of the reformists), the annual martyrdom festival held by the Cultural Forum of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and the unity of the Husseini processions in Al-Dabouni district in Wasit governorate in cooperation with the holy shrines, was launch to recall and commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Lady az-Zahra (Peace be upon her) and the martyrs of Iraq who fell to defend the land of Iraq and its sanctities.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of religious figures, representatives of the offices of the great religious authorities, delegations representing the holy shrines, a number of religious clerics in Wasit province, and tribal dignitaries, as well as the families of the popular mobilization and the residents of the area.

After the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and reading Surat al-Fatiha in honor of the souls of the martyrs of Iraq. The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority in the area; Sheikh Salah al-Qurra Gholli presented a word in which he stressed the necessity of shedding light on the tragedy of Lady Fatima (peace be upon her).

This was followed by the word of the agent of the Supreme Religious Authority; Sheikh Saleh al-Qurra Gholi, then an educational word of his eminence Sayed Rashid al-Hussayni.

The festival included the presentation of poems and elegies as well as a play about Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her) and her tragedy after the martyrdom of her father; the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household).

The ceremony ended with the distribution of shields and certificates of appreciation to some of the present figures, as well as providing financial and in-kind gifts to families of the martyrs, presented in the name of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.
