The office of His Eminence Sayed al-Sistani called the believers to investigate the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) said: "Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it."

The Office of His Eminence Sayed al-Sistani in Najaf, calls the believers in Iraq and neighboring countries to investigate the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal of the year 1439 AH after the sunset on Thursday 29th of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Those who are absolutely certain of seeing the crescent moon tonight must testify wither directly at the office or at some accredited agents in the country.

The available information about the size of the crescent moon and its height in the horizon on Thursday evening indicates that it is very difficult to see it with the naked eye - i.e without the use of telescope and the like- in Iraq and the neighboring countries in this night, even that it will be seen the following night high and very large and will remain on the horizon for a long time.

Therefore, we stress on the dear believers to give importance of investigating seeing the crescent moon on Thursday evening especially if the weather in their areas is fully clear. And god is He who gives success.
