The Department of engineering projects at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine announced that it has completed all the works of the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), with the conclusion of its last part overlooking the holy courtyard.

The head of the Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine, engineer Dia Majid al-Sa'egh, said, "after the front facade of the gate of the Qibla of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) was completed, as was the case with the rest of the gates of the holy shrine that were completed successively, the work moved to the inside of the gate with inscriptions and decorations, as it is one of the most important Gates and entrances leading to the holy courtyard, to reach today the last stage, which is the side overlooking the holy courtyard from the inside".

He added,"the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has gone through many stages of work, all of which revolve around drawing a very beautiful and magnificent architectural piece of art, in terms of design and implementation, which combined the antiquity of the past with the modernity of architecture, to reach today the conclusion of the last stage of this project, which included strengthening, expanding and cladding the gate from the side overlooking the Hoyl Courtyard, with its right and left sides and its upper side, to relate to the rest of the previous works".

Al-Sa'egh explained: "the works at this stage included the division of the work into parts, the most important of which were:

- Removal of the old tiles from Kashi Karbala'i and others.

- Removal of bonding materials and drilling the wall in certain proportions that match the measurements of the gate.

- Levelling the surface with the addition of binders, treat cracks if any.

- Connect the old part with what has been done to make it one piece.

- Strengthening the wall with iron columns attached to ground bases to increase the strength of the wall, and to ensure an increase in its tolerance to the weight of the ceiling.

- Making a network of iron lattices with many layers.

- Cladding these layers with concrete and other structural materials, making the surfaces ready for cladding works and show them in the required form according to the required design".

He concluded,"at the end of these works, the expansion and development of the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which is the main gate leading to the holy shrine, have been fully completed with a different design from the rest of the gates because of its specificity, which made it a very beautiful and magnificent architectural masterpiece, combining the modernity of the implementation, the antiquity of the design and the quality of the used materials".

It is noteworthy that the project is being implemented by the Ardh al-Quds for construction contracting company (an Iraqi company), under direct field supervision by the Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, and funded by the Shiite endowment Diwan.
