The technical staff of the Al–Abbas's (p) holy shrine continues to implement the Waha rest project on the Najaf-Karbala road with an area of 63 dunums.
The project manager, Mr. Amir Hussein, said:"the Waha project is one of the most important projects aimed at combating desertification in the region, as it deals with the creation of large green spaces that include palm trees, ornamental and shade trees, and green spaces are an essential part of the project, as they have been carefully designed to provide a green natural environment that contributes to improving the surrounding climate and mitigating the effects of desertification in the region.
He added that " the project came to be an outlet for Karbala parents and families, as it includes many recreational and service facilities such as: a Fish Lake, a bird sanctuary, a restaurant, a mosque, fountains and playgrounds for children, and it was also planned to create hiking trails amid green spaces, allowing visitors to enjoy the surrounding nature in a relaxed and calm atmosphere.
"Today, the technical staff has started the work of covering the main streets and the muqarnas works for the secondary streets, in addition to identifying sessions and oases within the project, and the creation of the private lake and children's playgrounds has been completed,"he added.
The project manager explained that"the current completion rate has reached 50%, and the total area of the project has reached 63 dunums, it is expected that it will become a major destination for visitors and families, especially in light of its design that takes into account the provision of a natural environment".
