In pictures: Starting the cladding works of the sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).

After the completion of the cladding works of the inner chamber of the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), the staff working in the engineering projects and engineering maintenance Departments at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine started the first phase of the cladding works of the holy sanctuary, which included cladding the Iwans' floors and space between them and the Kashi Karbala'i covering them with luxury marble.

Head of Engineering Projects Department at the al-Abbas' s(p) Holy Shrine, Eng. Dea Majeed Al-Sa'egh, said: "These works fall within the framework of the cladding project of the Holy shrine and holy sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). The works were divided into phases to not intersect with the movement of visitors according to a temporal and spatial plan. The holy sanctuary will be divided into parts so the works will be executed in a sequential way according to each phase. The first phase included the cladding of the Iwans."

He pointed out that the new marble, which will be used in the cladding works, is of the type of "multi-onyx" that has been subjected to several technical and engineering tests in terms of endurance and consistency of color and thickness, in addition to other specifications that gave beauty to these marble pieces, with the addition of decorative marble pieces to be on both sides of each Iwan, centered by small fountains to drink water to replace existing water reservoirs."

Al-Sa'egh said: "These works were preceded by the removal of old marble and its adhesives and the treatment of the wall with special construction materials. As for the sanctuary, all the infrastructure works of the sanctuary were completed from water drainage networks to connections of electricity and communications systems, executed by the staff of Engineering Maintenance Department."

It is to note that the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has witnessed the implementation of a number of projects that have been developed according to specific spatial and temporal plans that are suitable for each project and its specificities, such as the project of horizontal expansion and the expansion of the sanctuary by roofing the Holy Shrine, in addition to covering the Iwans and construction of the basements, as well as the installation of the sanctuary's grid and other supporting systems of cooling, fire, alarm, communication and monitoring and other projects, and recently there is another project that is no less important than the rest, namely Project of cladding the holy shrine with marble, which was installed since the seventies of the last century.
