The al-Jood Poem Competition, which is sponsored by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine in cooperation with Al-Kafeel University, concluded its eighth session.
The competition ended with the winning of ten poems out of (89) by poets from inside and outside Iraq.
The member of the preparatory committee for the competition; Sayed Muhannad Mustafa Jamal al-Din, said that "the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine, at a time of loss of culture and the rule of insignificance, chose to light candles in the long darkness by sponsoring such a competition".
"The general secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine stood on the side of the poets and won for rhyme and poetry,"he added.
According to Jamal al-Din, a poet belonging to the Ahl al-Bayt school (peace be upon them), "When a poet writes about Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), he is not writing about a person, but he is dealing with valuable concepts such as courage, altruism, heroism, patience, Brotherhood and faith".
The competition aims to create a high-level poetic competition in order to demonstrate the great merit and status of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and to push specialists in the field of vertical poetry from elites with a bright history known for seriousness in purpose and content, and to show the great care that the holy shrine has for everything related to Master al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
