Al-Abbas's (p) Fighting Squad participates in the anti-locust campaign in al-Muthanna Governorate.

Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) Fighting Squad (brigade / 26 popular mobilization) announced its support for the campaign of the Ministry of Agriculture and government agencies in the province of Muthanna, which is to combat the desert locust which swarms have reached the desert of Samawah, which threatens heavy losses if urgent measures are not taken that are commensurate with the danger and increase of its numbers.

The Squad's supervisor, Maitham Al-Zaidi, explained to the al-Kafeel Network: "The locust campaign came as a complement to the major campaign launched by the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to combat the Corona virus, and after the arrival of a plea by our representatives in the province and the taking of fundamentalist approvals from its local government, a specialized team took the responsibility of two things, The first is sterilization of a number of areas in Samawah that were previously determined, and the second is the participation along with the Ministry of Agriculture division tasked with combating locust swarms that invaded the desert areas in the Samawah desert.

He added: "The team assigned to these actions has been provided with special materials for locust control that are sprayed by sprayers mounted on vehicles, in addition to the use of drones. The control activities are still ongoing according to the plan developed for this purpose."

It is noteworthy that large swarms of locusts reached the desert areas in Samawah, specifically in the area of ​​(Ansab) near the district of Busayyah, and that the amount of locusts reaching covered an area of ​​100 square kilometers, and it posed a threat to the cultivated areas.
