The collectibles of the Library and House of Manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.

The Center for the Restoration of Manuscripts is one of the important centers in the library of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, and this center includes five sections, the work of each of which is complementary to the other, and all of its work aims at how to preserve the manuscripts, as it is a scientific wealth in various fields of knowledge, and among these five sections is the Treasury section, which is a special room in which manuscripts and documents are preserved using modern scientific methods and mechanisms.
Center official Mr Laith Lutfi explained to the al-Kafeel Network the nature of this fortified room which is called (Treasury), saying: “Libraries are competing for the acquisition of manuscripts and documents, as they represent a cultural and intellectual heritage and carry prints dating back hundreds of years, and preserving them represents the preservation of the history of thought, language, beliefs, and knowledge, all of these and other things, made the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine through its library and house of manuscripts pay close attention to this topic. And its plan in this regard includes the creation of a fortified room or (treasury) to preserve these manuscripts and documents. "
He added: "The treasury is a fortified hall created with very special technical specifications, equipped with a number of metal tanks distributed according to the use of the manuscript or document, and this room is equipped with devices and equipment that work to preserve these archaeological holdings, providing an environment for storage in terms of adequate temperature and humidity, and other matters that contribute to creating an ideal atmosphere for conservation, according to international standards of temperature, which are 18-20 ° C, and humidity at a rate of 45-55%, and also provided this room with thermal sensors and devices linked to systems to control fires."
Lotfi explained: "The distribution of cupboards or cabinets for preservation was according to a plan in which the storage area was invested, and within special tabs, i.e. documents on one side and manuscripts on the other side, in addition to the presence of glass displays (templates) in which samples of these manuscripts and documents were placed."
It is noteworthy that the center is concerned with the maintenance and restoration of manuscripts, and preserving them from rotting and damage resulting from the obsolescence of times, and the damages incurred by them as a result of weather conditions and human intervention, as well as the manufacture of natural paper and preparation of leather, and this is done within the five sections of the center, namely: (Biological Laboratory, The chemical laboratory, the restoration, the artwork and decoration, and the manuscripts treasury).
