The translation unit of the Library and House of Manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine provides distinctive intellectual services, through the translation of many scientific and knowledge volumes from English into Arabic.
The official of the aforementioned unit, Mr Ismail Muhammad Kadhem, explained to the al-Kafeel Network, saying: "The translation unit is concerned with translating the folders of the modern world classification of the Library of Congress (LCC) from English into Arabic, as the library indexing and classification unit benefits from that."
He added: "Among the classification volumes that were translated by the staffs of our unit are: (the history of Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand), in addition to the sciences attached to history, general philosophy, logic, contemplative philosophy, psychology, aesthetics and ethics."
He continued: "Many categories of political science, public history, and European history have also been translated. Also, many articles, introductions, comments, and summaries from Arabic have been translated into English from the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and the holy imams (peace be upon them)."
Kadhem pointed out: "Many of the summaries of the library's investigation units were also translated from verified books into English, and from these translated summaries is the summary of the office of Mr. Suleiman the Great, the summary of the book of Lutf bi Ardh al-Taf, and the summary of the book of Durar al-Matalib wa Ghurar al-Manaqib fi Fadli Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him), and a summary of the book Jawab mas'alat fi sha'ni Ayat al-Tabligh, and others."
He pointed out that: "The unit is also carrying out an introductory mission, as its staff works to familiarize foreign delegations arriving at the library with the history of the library, its contents and units, with the intention of introducing these publications globally."
He explained: "The unit provides translation service to other library units if necessary, such as the manuscript restoration unit, the studies and authorship unit, the electronic library unit, and the loaning unit."
