The supply unit is the pillar of the al-Abbas’s (p) Holy Shrine library.

Various knowledge services provided by the Library and House of Manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to its visitors, and one of the most prominent contributors to providing these distinguished services is the (Supply Unit) in the library, which has the responsibility and task of providing the library with all the scientific and knowledge resources it needs of all kinds.

The official of the aforementioned unit, Mr Ali Muhammad Hussein Al-Musawi, spoke to the al-Kafeel Network saying: “The supply unit is one of the basic units but rather the pillar of the library, as it is the main source that provides what the beneficiary needs from the information sources, since the provision is important in increasing the volume of holdings, which increases the efficiency of the library in meeting the visitors' needs in terms of books. "

He added: "Our unit is working to add new office materials to the current library materials, as the aim of this process is to meet the needs of the library community for information, in addition to addressing weaknesses in the current collection."

He continued: "The provision process is concerned with the acquisition of more library materials from its various sources, according to the specific foundations for selecting these materials. The provision process is not only limited to securing the sources of information that have been selected for the library, but also includes the purchase of sources."

As for the supply methods, al-Musawi explained: "The methods of supply are as follows:

1- Procurement: Procurement is the main source of supplying the library with library materials, and the importance of this source in developing library acquisitions depends on the size of the amounts allocated to purchasing library materials.

2- Exchanging: It is a process of exchanging information sources with other libraries, and the sources available for the library are used either from its publications or from the parent institution that the library belongs to, or those that have been less used from the library sources, or have arrived as duplicate gifts.

3- Gifting: It is one of the sources of development and building of the library collection, when a person, organization or other library gives free sources of information to the library without charge.

4- Legal deposit: It is the deposit of free copies of the information sources published in certain libraries, and sometimes it is imposed on the publisher, printer or author or more than one of them together according to legislation issued by an official authority in the state, in exchange for preserving their rights to those sources, and sometimes fines are imposed if they are not following it. "

It is noteworthy that the library of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs abounds in thousands of titles and books in various scientific and knowledge fields.
