The Indexing and Information Systems Center contributes to establishing the first information network in Iraq for Iraqis' patents.

The Center for Indexing and Information Systems of the Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, launched an industrial patent information network for Iraqis, and presented it on a special website in order to benefit scientists and researchers from viewing it, in addition to contributing to collecting and tabulating scientific and practical products.
This cooperation came at the request of the cooperation submitted to the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine by the Ministry of Industry, and it was piloted under the following link: http://www.iiir-mim.gov.iq/xmlui/.
On this project, the Center’s manager, Mr. Hassanein Al-Mousawi, indicated to the al-Kafeel Network: “It is a system for building digital warehouses (DSPACE), and our center has sponsored the design and programming of the site, in addition to qualifying and training the team for its management and the mechanism for collecting its data.”
He affirmed that: "The first industrial electronic project in Iraq that provides research and retrieval services for all patents and industrial achievements that Iraqi scientists have accomplished, to be a scientific and epistemological basis from which researchers and specialists can benefit, and to be a starting point for the new patents."
And Mousawi explained: "The staff of our center worked on the success of this project, by installing the open source DSpace program, and training the staff of the Ministry working on entering and collecting data, as well as filtering old data and reformulating it in a way that is compatible with modern technology in display and retrieval, and this is what contributes to the presentation of the Iraqi creativity product on the Arab and international scene.
