The Indexing and Information Systems Center continues to organize its electronic courses.

The Indexing and Information Systems Center of the Library and Manuscripts House of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine is still continuing to organize its specialized electronic courses in the field of modern cataloging, according to the rules of (RDA) and the MARC / 21 standard, and it has organized many courses in advance so that its next session will be devoted to indexing periodicals, which will be organized through the (ZOOM Cloud Meetings) program.
The session will be held on Thursday (27 Dhu al-Hijjah 1441 AH) corresponding to (August 21, 2020) and will continue for two days, at five in the evening and lasts for two hours on the first day, and at exactly 11:00 in the morning until one in the afternoon on the second day, Baghdad time. The indexer who will lecture in it is Ahmed Mohamed, and the Center invited indexers who wish to participate and those interested in this field to register their names.
This is what the director of the center, Mr. Hassanein Al-Mousawi, explained to the al-Kafeel Network, adding: “Indexing is a necessary importance in libraries of all kinds and forms, as it is the way to organize knowledge and access various sources of information, and from this standpoint and thanks to the experience of our cadres in this field, and for the exchange of experiences, we resorted to organizing a series of these e-courses, as a result of the repercussions of the Corona epidemic.
Indicating: “Among the things that will be addressed during this session is everything related to the technical preparation of this type of information container, using machine-readable indexing systems through MARC / 21 rules, and it will also include the definition of the types of periodicals and how to distinguish them from other sources of information, and the creation of Bibliographic records, in addition to other matters related to the general theme of the course.
