A medical team from Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital in Karbala announced its success in treating a young man in his twenties who suffers from a complete cut in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, and enabling him to resume his daily activities in a short time.
The treating physician at the hospital, Dr. Haider Hashem, a specialist in orthopedic surgery, fractures and joints, said: “A medical team headed by us succeeded in treating a 27-year-old patient who was suffering from a complete cut in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, using the endoscopic technique without resorting to a surgical intervention. "
Hashem added: "The symptoms of his cruciate ligament were clear, as he felt a loud crackling sound with severe pain, inability to continue his daily activities, swelling in the knee, loss of range of motion and feeling unsteady."
He indicated: “We gave the patient an x-ray to make sure that he did not have a broken bone, after which he performed an MRI scan, and upon completion of the tests and analyzes, we brought him into the operating theater and was treated using the endoscopic technique.”
Pointing out that: "The patient regained his health status within a short period and became able to carry out his daily activities that he was accustomed to."
