Scenes from the night of loneliness, which was commemorated by the believers in the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them)

On the eve of the eleventh of the sacred month of Muharram, is the first night after the martyrdom of Karbala martyrs, the burned tents and broken hearts of the wives, children and family of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his companions, a grief and sorrow than no words can describe: Men martyred covered with their own blood and sand, children are slaughtered, tents are burnt, belongings are looted, clothes are robbed, backs and forearms are black of whips and spears heels, and they do not have any food for the remaining children and the nursing mothers whose breasts dried from milk because of thirst and hunger.

In this terrible night, Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her) was the leader of the convoy of the captives and orphans. Despite the weight and bitterness of the calamities, she remained proudly strong facing the tragic calamities without any blink of eye to execute the will of her brother Al-Hussayn the martyr (peace be upon him). She undertook guarding the captives, she gathered the women and children, and she was the soul of those bodies that have lost joy of life. Having completed all these tasks and was sure that everyone was now safe, she wanted to perform night prayer but she was exhausted so for the first time in her life, she prayed sitting, invoking the Almighty. About this, Imam Zayn Al-Abideen (peace be upon him) has said: "I opened my eyes on the eve of the eleventh of Muharram and I saw my aunt Zaynab praying the night prayer, sitting."

What a sad night for the daughters of the Messenger of Allah (prayers of Allah be upon him and upon his holy Household) after the royal pride they had since birth, as until yesterday they were protected by the marquee of grandeur, prestige, majesty and greatness, shining during the day by the sun of prophecy and illuminated at night by the moons of the Imamate and the holiness lights' lamps, and this night they remained in the obscure darkness after having lost those bright lights, without a protector or sponsor.

To commemorate this mournful night "The night of loneliness [Laylat Al-Wahshah]" the believers have participated in the condolence rituals on Thursday evening the 10th of Muharram corresponding to the August 30, 2020, to recall what has happened to the children and women of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) of persecution and oppression in such night. The rituals have started at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to pass by the area between the two holy shrines heading towards the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) amid the interaction of the believers who are used to lit candles each year to remember the darkness in which Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have lived in such night.
