The Women's Library is organizing an online course on the foundations of descriptive indexing.

The Women's Library, in cooperation with the Cataloging and Information Systems Center of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine, organized an online training course (webinar) on the basics of online cataloging, through the (Zoom Cloud Meeting) program.
Professor Wafa Omar Ashour from the Indexing and Classification Unit in the Women’s Library lectured in this session, who in turn spoke to the Kafeel network, saying: “Through this course, the importance and foundations of descriptive indexing in providing some bibliographic information was highlighted within the MARC / 21 system and within the rules of the (RDA) used by the Women's Indexing Unit in the Women's Library. "
She added, "The course was simplified and presented in a way that enables the interested person and the specialist to learn the basics of indexing and benefit from it, and to work on transferring the experience of the Women's Library in the field of cataloging and trying to spread the benefit to the largest possible segment."
At the end of this session, there were extensive discussions and interventions, to which the lecturer answered.
It is noteworthy that among the visions and goals of the Women's Library is the establishment of various educational workshops, including those related to cataloging that was intended to be presented to students and librarians at Al-Mustansiriya University, and as a result of the Corona pandemic and related events, it was set up remotely electronically.
